Compression testing is most commonly performed as part of an ISTA Package Testing series. Element's product testing facilities include certified package testing labs by ISTA (International Safe Transit Association). Compression tests can be performed with temperature/humidity/pressure atmospheric pre-conditioning, prior to compression.

Compression testing, crush tests can also be used to determine behavior of materials under crushing loads or stackable weight limits. (Stacking load tests: dynamic and static). This can include plastics, composites, metals, concrete and even ceramics.

Other Common Compression/Crush Test Protocols Include:
  • UL 2054: Household and Commercial Batteries - Mechanical Tests, Crush Test
  • ASTM D642: Test Method for Determining Compressive Resistance of Shipping Containers, Components, and Unit Loads
  • TAPPI T 811 & 839: Edgewise Compressive Strength of Corrugated Fiberboard
