About Element Calgary

Accredited by the Standards Counsel of Canada, the Element Calgary laboratory specializes in environmental organic analysis and food quality services. 

As the Western Canadian center of excellence for organic analysis on soils, water and air, the laboratory's core service offerings include:  BTEX, Extractable Hydrocarbons, Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAH), Volatile Organic Carbon (VOC), Alcohols (including Methanol), Polychlorinated Biphenyls (PCB), Chlorinated Phenols (PCP), Glycols, Alkanolamines, Sulfolane, Organochlorine Pesticides, Organophosphorus Pesticides, Acid and Neutral Herbicides, Carbamates, Glyphosates, Volatile Fatty Acids (VFA), Trihalomethanes (THM), Microcystin toxin, Naphthenic Acids (FTIR), Simulated Distillations (ASTM D7169)GC Mass Spec open scans (Volatile and Semi-volatile), soluble gas in water (including Methane), Total Coliforms, Fecal Coliforms, E. coli, Sulphate Reducing Bacteria, Iron Related Bacteria and much more. 

Food Quality Service core service offering include: Pathogen detection by PCR (Salmonella, Listeria monocytogenes, Listeria species, E. coli O157:H7), Standard Plate Counts, Coliform and Fecal coliform, E. coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas spp, Clostridium perfringens, Bacillus cereus, Yeast and Mold, microbial contaminants in the air, Protein, Fat, Ash, Carbohydrates, Calories, pH, Water Activity, Bone particle size.
