Ceramic Thermal Barrier Coatings (TBC)

To design and predict the life of ceramic Thermal Barrier Coatings (TBCs), it is vital to understand their thermal conductivity and behavior in the presence of heat.  Element uses the guarded hot plate test method to measure the temperature of ceramic TBCs samples in accordance with ASTM C177.

In addition, we can also measure thermal emissivity in TBCs, which influences heat transfer through coatings and becomes crucial as operating temperatures increase.
