The tests
Element worked with Rosetti Marino on its development of the Jasmine discovery, a high pressure, and high temperature gas-condensate reservoir destined to produce 88,000 barrels of oil in the North Sea every year. Rosetti Marino worked with Element's team of experts in Crema to develop test jackets that will protect the rig fixings, sitting at a depth of over 260 ft. The three jackets – wellhead, riser and living platform – were made from various materials including steel, concrete caisson, floating steel and floating concrete.
The Element team in Crema conducted mechanical and crack tip opening displacement testing as well as a technical investigation into the welding of the offshore jacket to qualify the materials and welding them for the jacket construction.
The result
Following the successful testing period with Element, the jackets were shipped to Aberdeen for onward transfer to the rig site. It is anticipated that the Jasmine will start producing its first oil at the end of 2013.
