LONDON, UK – March 3, 2016 – Element Materials Technology has further strengthened its market-leading capabilities in the Medical Device Testing sector following completion of significant investment in laboratories at locations in Cincinnati and Warsaw.

Element Cincinnati, home to the Group’s Medical Device Testing Center of Technical Excellence, has added 21 new testing methods to act as a full-service location in strategic partnership with key clients, while Element Warsaw has expanded its scope of accreditation in bioburden, endotoxin and cytotoxicity testing. The locations are part of Element’s Global platform, which leverages expertise from across the Group to deliver technical expertise to support clients in key markets.

Rick Sluiters, Element’s Executive Vice President, Aerospace, comments: “Through these investments, we act as a truly strategic testing partner in the testing of Medical Devices. We have added full-service capabilities in mechanical, biological and related testing services to ensure we stay at forefront of the industry’s shift towards minimizing client vendor outsourcing. By aligning strategically with the needs of manufacturers, we can provide support across their product offerings in the full range of required testing.”

Element Cincinnati has added accelerated aging capabilities for wear and polymer testing programs to reduce turnaround times for clients, a key performance metric for the industry. The location also has a new testing suite for cadaveric tissue, allowing storage, preparation and dissection, as well as mechanical testing for physiological studies. The expanded test methods in Cincinnati also allow for new spine, knee and hip wear simulator evaluations, as well as a range of corrosion and fatigue studies.

Located in the ‘orthopedic center of the world’ – with Zimmer Biomet, DePuy Synthes Joint Reconstruction and Paragon based in the area – Element’s Warsaw, IN location has added ISO Class 5 workstations and ISO Class 7 cleanroom laboratories to support bioburden, endotoxin and cytotoxicity testing, as well as additional microbiological and analytical services to a range of regulatory standards.
