Since the creation of video conferencing and advanced telephone features, manufacturers of telecom equipment have been required to gain different additional certifications for different equipment. Understanding which tests need to be conducted for what products can be difficult – Element’s experts simplify testing and certification by offering analogue telecommunications testing and Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN) testing.
Analogue telecommunications testing
For products like telephones, fax machines, Private Branch Exchanges (PBX) and Public Switch Telephone Networks (PSTN), analogue telecommunications testing covers the basics for certification. Because these devices don’t have the capacity to transfer anything other than voice across wires, traditional forms of testing are still sufficient for certification.
Most analogue telecommunications testing involves ensuring the safety and integrity of products, evaluating interoperability with networks and emergency services, and certifying product safety. Element provides a variety of test methods for analogue equipment, and can assist in gaining certification for countries around the world.

ISDN telecommunications testing
By contrast, ISDN testing applies to digital devices that have more advanced features than analogue products. ISDN standards were created to regulate telephone and video conferencing equipment that transmit voice, video, music, text and more across telephone wires.
Element provides a wide range of regulatory and non-regulatory services covering electrical and protocol testing solutions that are designed to help you with ISDN telephones, ISDN cards within datacoms systems and products with ISDN as a backup communications interface.
The regulatory requirements for most countries are based on the Euro ISDN testing of ETSI TBR 3 and ETSI TBR 4 standards with country-specific requirements. These standards cover a wide range of product characteristics, including EMC, SAR testing, telecom equipment acoustic testing, and more.
For regulatory testing, Element has vast experience of offering ISDN analysis and developing test suites to assess ISDN devices to specific conformance requirements. Our extensive experience in digital testing standard development ensures that our services meet manufacturers’ expectations and help them gain access to international markets.
