Hazel Davidson is Element Deeside's Technical Advisor. Hazel is a highly knowledgeable environmental chemist with over 40 years of experience in analytical environmental laboratories.

Fifteen years as an analytical chemist, twenty five years in environmental management roles, now a Technical Advisor in the Built Environment unit based at Element Deeside. Hazel runs training seminars for clients, in the UK and EU, plus serving on industry committees and presenting at conferences.

 

Industry Experience

Hazel worked as an environmental chemist at Geochem Laboratories from 1980. Over the subsequent years it became apparent that environmental analysis was a growth area,  the range of analyses was diversified to meet demand. During this time, Hazel was highly influential in method development and the expansion of analyses carried out in the UK and beyond.

Over the next decade, the laboratory gained UKAS accreditation, opened a laboratory in Dublin, became part of Alcontrol, acquired Technichem in Uxbridge and the Robertsons lab in Conwy, and in 2004/5 Hazel was Project Manager for the relocation of the lab from Saltney to Hawarden.

From 1993, Hazel ran training seminars for clients throughout the UK, plus projects in Bulgaria, Romania and Jordan, providing training for environmental scientists with UNEP.

Hazel also served on several industry committees and was a frequent speaker at conferences. 
In 2012, Hazel took on a Technical Advisor role at Derwentside Environmental Testing and worked there until 2020, joining Element Deeside in 2024.
