New equipment at the Element Milan testing laboratory in Italy increases the capabilities for cryogenic temperature testing and fatigue testing.
Element Milan proudly presents its new materials testing “colleague”. We gave it a warm welcome when it arrived at the laboratory despite the device being designed to work at very low temperatures. This modern system expands our capabilities for mechanical testing at cryogenic temperatures down to 4K (-269°C) and is adaptable to the most varied and customized types of cryogenic testing including tensile testing, impact testing, and fracture toughness.
New equipment for producing more precise samples
Element Milan has also made fundamental investments in equipment such as Mitsubishi Electrical discharge machining (EDM) that enable truly complex geometrical features on electrically conductive material of almost any hardness. Combined with our CNC machining centre we reach a unique quality of machining and the ability to control different parameters to achieve the essential surface finish and dimensional accuracy. This allows us to produce more precise specimens and samples than ever before – thus saving time and money for our clients.
Element’s Italian materials testing laboratory has also invested in three new Instron 8801 machines which meet the most advanced materials testing needs and are ideal for high and low cycle fatigue, thermo-mechanical fatigue, and fracture mechanics testing. A capacity of up to 100kN, a larger work envelope, high rigidity, and greater alignment accuracy make the 8801 extremely versatile and reliable.
A commitment to provide enhanced services
“The efficient coordination and planning of the purchase of new machines and tools allows the achievement of very targeted production goals, such as higher production volume, continuous quality, better functionality, elasticity, capacity and reach”, says Marco di Bernado, General Manager of Element Milan. “These investments illustrate our commitment to provide enhanced services for our customers, both our long-established ones and the newly loyal ones.”
