The UKCA Mark will soon be mandatory for goods placed on the market. The government will continue to recognise the CE marking for 2 years, therefore allowing businesses until 31 December 2024 to prepare for the UKCA marking.

However, the industry is not ready for this, so there will also be an “easement” package for most existing products that are CE Marked under the EU product Directives.

Our expert, Simon Barrowcliff, outlined the UKCA regime and covered the following to give clarity to product manufacturers:

  • Overview of the UK Government's “easement measures”
  • UKCA marking and importer details
  • Spares to repair, replace, and maintain
  • UKCA conformity assessments using existing EU Notified Body Certification
  • Summary of the new UKCA implementation
  • Two real-life case studies on radio equipment for the whole UK and EU market
