Simon Barrowcliff is a highly experienced expert in product testing, assessment, certification & approvals.
His specialisms include product safety, international product certification, and global product regulations. He leads the Certification and Approvals business at Element.
Simon has wide experience of product testing and certification for electrical and mechanical safety and radio compliance.
He represents the UK on the international IEC Conformity Assessment Board which oversees the four IEC conformity assessment schemes for electrical equipment, components, hazardous area equipment and renewable energy. He has been the IEC CAB Member since 2013 and participates in a number of IEC CAB working groups and task forces.
He is Chairman of the UK IEC CAB mirror committee (L/6), the UK IECEE mirror committee (L/6/1) and the UK ATEX Notified Body Group. He is a member of IECEx (L/6/10) committee for hazardous area equipment.
Simon was responsible for setting up the IECEE and IECEx testing and certification schemes and also the Notified Body services for electrical safety (LVD) and hazardous area (ATEX) equipment.
