What we test

Element’s emissions teams install CEMS to monitor the full spectrum of emissions parameters including NOx, NO, NO2, N2O, CO, CO2, O2, TVOCs, SO2, HCl, NH3, and H2O (water vapor). Element’s systems are calibrated to your specific stack gas composition and temperatures, ensuring accurate measurements across all required parameters.

Element’s comprehensive services also cover your complete CEMS infrastructure, including monitoring systems, BS EN 14181 calibration, and emissions control equipment. Element conduct thorough linearity checks at 2x Daily ELV or Short Term ELV using ISO/IEC 17025 certified calibration gas with <2% uncertainty, ensuring accurate system validation.

Frequently asked questions

What is included in a linearity check?

Linearity checks assess CEMS performance at zero, 20%, 40%, 60%, 80% of range, and final zero. Includes T90 response time determination and additional required checks.

How often are QAL2 and AST tests required?

QAL2 requires minimum 15 parallel measurements over 3 days. ASTs are conducted annually with minimum 5 parallel measurements over 1 day.

What is QAL3 and how often should it be conducted?

QAL3 is an ongoing quality assurance and control process for CEMS, typically conducted by the operator on a routine basis (weekly, fortnightly or monthly) to demonstrate systems are functioning normally and remain under control.
