Fuel Icing Testing

Element can condition fuel to sub zero temperatures, while maintaining flow and pressure conditions. Calibrated amounts of water are then atomized into the fuel system creating the icing simulation. Samples of the fuel are extracted and analyzed using a Karl Fisher Titration system. This can resolve the water contained in the fuel down to the parts per million. Element can condition high pressure, air, oil, or fuels to extreme high or low temperature conditions while sustaining flow. 

System Testing

In addition to testing individual components, the conditions seen in entire systems can be readily reproduced and controlled in a lab operating environment. This capability enables the end-user to obtain a more cost-effective testing solution while also monitoring and observing any synergistic effects.

Bleed Air Testing

A very special duct application in the aviation sector is the bleed air system which needs to be capable of handling high temperature and high pressure air taken from the compressor section of the aero-engine.The bleed air system is used to start the engines, for anti-icing the aircraft and for environmental (temperature and pressure) control of the passenger cabin. Our test rigs facilitate the full scale bleed air sub-system, which is consequently subjected to pressure, temperature and vibration loads. These tests have been performed on bleed air subsystems for all European aircraft development projects during the lastdecade. The system and large numbers of valves and flanges will be installed in its original attitude and subjected to cyclic pressure loads at high temperature during the test.
