LONDON, UK – May 12, 2015 – Element Materials Technology joins America Makes, a US federally-funded organization focused on developing capabilities and processes in Additive Manufacturing (AM), in recognition of its leading position in materials testing.

America Makes has a mandate to promote additive manufacturing through joint-research projects by industry, higher education and the public sector. It helps lead the industry in process and product development, sharing results among its members. Additive Manufacturing is estimated to grow to a US$12-25bn globally by the year 2020. Element expects America Makes projects to deliver advances in a range of sectors including Aerospace, Transportation, Energy and Industrials. America Makes membership adds to Element’s impressive list of industry accreditations and approvals.

Charles Noall, President and CEO of Element, comments: “We are delighted to be recognized as an industry-leader in additive manufacturing testing by joining America Makes. The project brings together a range of stakeholders from industry, as well as partners from university research departments and public sector organizations. Element is eager to collaborate in knowledge-sharing and to develop stronger links with our industry peers through this initiative.”

Element’s membership of America Makes builds on its reputation within AM testing. In 2014, Element opened a new Additive Manufacturing Center of Excellence at Element Cleveland, OH serving Aerospace, Medical and Energy sectors in materials testing.

David Podrug, Advanced Materials Business Manager, will oversee Element’s involvement with America Makes. He represents Element on the American Society for Testing and Material’s (ASTM) International Committee F42 on Additive Manufacturing Technologies – an industry body formed in co-operation with the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) to stay at the leading edge of the rapidly-changing manufacturing sector.
