AMSTERDAM, THE NETHERLANDS – January 6, 2014 – Elliott Smith, Welding/NDT Manager at Element Cleveland, has been recognized by the American Welding Association (AWS), having been honored with the prestigious Dalton E. Hamilton Memorial CWI of the Year Section Award.


A certified welding inspector and educator (CWE/CWI) with over 20 years’ experience in welding, Elliott has risen from weld inspector to his current position, where he is responsible for certifying welders, writing welding procedures and overseeing the NDT group.

The award, administered by the Cleveland Section of AWS’ Certification Committee, highlights Elliott’s experience and expertise in the field and the AWS notes that recipients are chosen because of ‘outstanding contribution to the science of welding inspection.

Elliott’s high level of knowledge, passion for his work and tireless efforts in maintaining high levels of client satisfaction as he works with customers on procedural processes to achieve welder certification embody Element’s philosophy and make him a worthy winner of this coveted accolade.
