AMSTERDAM, THE NETHERLANDS - Element St Paul has long been a provider of analytical and quality support services to important construction projects in the Twin Cities. Today clients are calling on Element to perform construction materials testing and engineering projects from coast-to-coast, and even across the border.

Wind farm construction has become an increasingly important part of Element St.Paul’s project calendar. In 2010 and 2011, Element field crews supported 24 wind energy projects in New York, New Mexico, Nebraska, Kansas, Iowa, South Dakota, Texas, Manitoba, and Minnesota. Only a few months into 2012, 13 wind farm projects are already scheduled—in British Columbia, Nevada, California, Kansas, Oklahoma, four in Iowa, and four in Texas.

To satisfy this increasing demand we have significantly expanded our wind farm team with additional technicians who have immediately been assigned to wind farm sites across North America.” said Colin Speedie, Element Vice President, U.S. Operations.

The Element crews use onsite custom-built portable laboratories to carry out services in the field including soil analysis, concrete quality testing, anchor testing and other field tests. Suppliers to the wind farm project are also shipping other product and material samples to the St. Paul laboratory for metallurgy, chemistry, and failure analysis.
