AMSTERDAM, THE NETHERLANDS — FEBRUARY 1, 2012 — Element Materials Technology has acquired MAR-TEST headquartered in Cincinnati, Ohio. The addition of MAR-TEST and its world-class reputation for high-quality mechanical testing within the Aerospace & Defense, Power Generation and Medical Device industries, further confirms Element’s resolve to provide industry-leading service for these rapidly growing business sectors.

"I'm very pleased to complete this transaction underlining our commitment to significantly strengthen Element’s service offering of high-end routine testing to the Aerospace & Defense and Power Generation industries,” said Charles Noall, President and CEO of Element. “MAR-TEST is a great company, recognized as a reference laboratory in this sector, and this acquisition will further expand our capabilities and capacity to service these quality-critical supply chains."

MAR-TEST is recognized as a worldwide leader in mechanical testing with well equipped testing laboratories in Cincinnati and Stuart, Florida and a high-end machine shop that specializes in sample manufacturing in Cincinnati. As a preferred fatigue and fracture mechanics lab, MAR-TEST has provided testing services ranging from materials for jet engines and NASA space vehicles to artificial hip and spinal implants.

"Our team of testing experts can now provide their exceptional expertise and customer service to substantially more domestic and international customers,” said Steve Etter, President/CEO of MAR-TEST, Inc. “I am pleased to see MAR-TEST become a part of Element’s worldwide lineup of materials testing laboratories.”

Founded in 1970 by engineers from GE Aerospace, MAR-TEST is an independent, Nadcap and A2LA accredited testing laboratory. The company was purchased in 1988 by the current CEO, Steve Etter, and a group of investors. Etter grew the lab from 56 test frames to an impressive 110 Servo-Hydraulic systems, 5 Electro-Mechanical systems, and 55 Rupture frames today.

“We are especially excited for the additional opportunities this affords our highly talented and motivated staff,” said Bob Neugebauer, Executive VP, General Manager of MAR-TEST. “Being part of Element’s network of labs benefits our customers by expanding the array of our quality testing services.”
