LONDON, UK – November 4, 2015 – Element Materials Technology expands its top team of global Oil & Gas specialists with the appointment of Marie Halliday to the position of Global Coatings Specialist within the Oil & Gas Sector.

In this newly created role, Marie will support and drive Element’s growth ambitions within Coatings, adding technical excellence and strengthening the overall business strategy for its coatings testing service range. This appointment follows on from the recent addition of Global Corrosion Specialist, George Winning, to Element’s global Oil & Gas team that also includes Barry Thomson, Global Polymers Specialist, and Andy Barron, Global Fatigue and Fracture Mechanics Specialist.

Marie joins Element after spending the last 18 years working for AkzoNobel (International Paint) in their UK, China and South American operations. She is an internationally-renowned Coatings expert, who is a key figure within such international industry bodies as NACE International and the Institute of Corrosion (ICorr). She currently sits on several NACE International offshore technical standards committees including SP0108, and has been instrumental in the development of new industry test standards, most recently TM0104-0404 and TM0115, delivering trusted methodologies for the Oil & Gas industry.

Rod Martin, Element’s Executive Vice President, Oil & Gas, comments: “We are delighted to add yet another industry-leading technical advisor to lead our rapidly expanding Coatings team. Marie joins our team of Global Oil & Gas specialists, complementing existing technical capabilities and allowing our clients to leverage, quite simply, the best in the business.”

Marie Halliday herself commented: “As the industry encounters even more challenging conditions such as hotter oil and gas extraction temperatures and higher processing temperatures, test methodologies for coatings performance need to be constantly reviewed and developed. Element is ideally placed to work in partnership with end-users and coatings suppliers to try and solve these challenges.

“Element’s success in testing has been built on its sound methodology and platform of Engaged Experts, so I am delighted to be joining this global team of some of the world’s foremost specialists. This new role will see me lead the development of our Coatings teams in collaboration with key clients, allowing us to work towards our goal of becoming the most trusted testing partner in the Oil & Gas sector.”

Marie assumed her new role at Element in October, and will work closely with teams at the Element Coatings laboratories in Amsterdam (Netherlands), Houston (US) and the UK.
