LONDON, UK – March 30, 2016 – Element Materials Technology has underlined its commitment to safety in the Oil & Gas sector by achieving industry-critical joint-certification in British Standard OHSAS 18001:2007 for its UK laboratories at Aberdeen, Hitchin and Sheffield.

The investment in the certification reflects the demanding safety standards within the Oil & Gas sector and form part of the wider health and safety strategy across the Element platform. The BS OHSAS 18001:2007 certification supplements the ISO/IEC 17025:2005 certification and will be subject to annual audits from an external accrediting body which promotes continuous improvement in performance.

Rod Martin, Element’s Executive Vice President, Oil & Gas, comments: “We are delighted to achieve this demanding certification. It required considerable leadership from the location health & safety managers over a sustained period, as well as the strategic planning of the senior management team. This took place within the context of Element’s extremely strong safety culture, which has seen strong buy-in from Element team members at all levels to deliver continued year-on-year improvements in safety performance.

“There is a real focus in the Oil & Gas sector on health and safety compliance for all companies within the supply chain. By gaining this certification, we can deliver more robust and transparent assessments of our health and safety system to further strengthen our partnerships with major clients. And as we hold ourselves to higher standards in safety, we ensure that our team members can carry out their work in a safe and healthy environment.”

Element achieved BS OHSAS 18001:2007 joint-certification at its three UK Oil & Gas locations in March 2016.
