London, UK – January 25, 2018 – Admaterials Technologies Pte Ltd (Admaterials Technologies) has won a contract with Shimizu Corporation to provide concrete testing for the new National Cancer Centre Singapore. Admaterials Technologies is part of Exova Group Ltd, which was recently acquired by Element Materials Technology (Element) to create one, world-class global testing services partner.

The contract will see Element provide all materials testing for this project, including compressive strength, density, reinforcement bar, and mesh testing. Furthermore, Element has developed a bespoke in-house testing method for bound water content in concrete, which will help the main contractor, Shimizu Corporation, develop the special concrete with bound water for radiation protection.

Element’s Singapore facility is the first and only laboratory in the country that can perform bound water content testing in concrete. The test will be accredited by SINGLAS in August this year.

Matt Davies, EVP Infrastructure & Environmental, Element, said: “The new National Cancer Centre Singapore is an exciting project for the nation and we’re thrilled to work on such a major development that will improve cancer patients’ access to treatment.

“By developing a bespoke in-house testing service for bound water in concrete, we have been able to meet Shimizu Corporation’s technically demanding needs, deliver solutions to mission critical challenges, and help reform cancer care and treatment.”

The new National Cancer Centre Singapore is expected to be completed in 2022 and will house facilities for cancer care and rehabilitation, research and education.
