London, UK – May 29, 2018 – Element hosted its annual testing and compliance seminar “Regulatory Compliance 2018: putting your product onto the market” on 23 May 2018, at the Williams F1 Conference Centre, in Oxfordshire, UK. 150 delegates from leading global OEMs and supply chain partners attended the event which addressed the latest compliance updates and shared industry expertise on how to successfully compete in global markets.

Chaired by engaged expert Simon Barrowcliff (Chair of UK IEC Conformity Assessment Board and UK IECEE mirror committees and Chair of the UK ATEX Notified Body Group), the seminar kicked off with presentations by leading industry experts Steve Hayes (former Chair of the European Union Association of Notified Bodies)  and Dr. Simon Hindle, Business Development Manager, who addressed topical issues such as CE marking in the context of Brexit and the latest updates on the Radio Equipment Directive (RED) compliance requirements.

The presentations were followed by an opportunity for delegates to attend industry-specific breakout training sessions that covered a wide variety of topics including advice on how to integrate a radio device into a product; updates on ATEX/IECEx explosive atmosphere regulations; guidance on zigbee certification; and an update on medical device regulations as they relate to electronic medical technology products.

The afternoon session included a presentation from engaged expert Richard White, who spoke to the audience about the global product approval process and what companies need to do to access international markets. It was followed by a keynote speech from Ofcom’s Market Surveillance and Enforcement Officer, Amy Hemmings, who addressed the regulator’s role as an enforcing authority for radio products available on the UK market. The seminar closed with a round table discussion, chaired by expert Jonathan Harros, where delegates had the opportunity to ask the experts questions on compliance related issues.

Rick Sluiters, EVP Aerospace, commented: ‘’This event is a unique opportunity for industry experts to debate current issues around compliance and is particularly topical as the UK market deals with the ramifications of Brexit and the latest developments with the RED.
