Element Materials Technology Announces New Global Operating Model
LONDON, UK – 29 July 2026: Element Materials Technology (“Element”), a leading global provider of testing services in some of the world’s most highly regulated industries, today announced a new operating model, designed to bring its expert teams closer to customers and support its next phase of growth.
Under the new model, Element will transition from a structure based on two regions – the Americas and EMEAA (Europe, Middle East, Africa and Asia) - and five business units, to a simpler operating model built around two distinct global, end market focused Business Lines: Element Aero, Space & Defense and Element Consumer & Industrials.
- Element Aero, Space & Defense brings together Element’s capabilities in materials testing, product qualification, and mission-critical assurance for customers operating in highly regulated aerospace, space, defense, and energy markets.
- Element Consumer & Industrials focuses on regulated product market access, helping manufacturers test, certify and scale advanced consumer and industrial products across built environment, connected technologies, mobility and industrial markets.
The changes take immediate effect, with Element executive Rick Sluiters (formerly EVP, Americas) transitioning to the role of CEO, Element Aero, Space & Defense, and Matt Hopkinson, (formerly EVP, EMEAA) appointed as CEO, Element Consumer & Industrials. Both leaders will continue to report to Group CEO, Jo Wetz.
Jo Wetz, Group CEO of Element, said: “This is a confident next step in Element’s evolution. We are already a trusted testing partner to some of the world’s leading companies, operating in the most highly regulated markets where safety, quality and compliance are critical. By organizing around two highly focused global Business Lines, we are building on our strengths and creating stronger platforms for growth in mission-critical testing and product market access.
“For our customers, the new organisation will provide greater scale, broader expertise and a more connected offer across markets and geographies. For our colleagues, it provides greater clarity on where we are focused and how we will continue to grow. What doesn’t change is that Element remains one company, with one purpose and a shared commitment across all our teams to Making Tomorrow Safer Than Today.”
The new structure follows 15 years of significant growth and evolution under Wetz’s leadership. Element has grown from $100 million in revenue in 2011 to approximately $1.5 billion in 2026, driven by strong organic growth and the integration of over 50 acquisitions. Wetz has led the Group through three private equity investment cycles and driven continued investment in core capabilities alongside the strategic reshaping of Element’s portfolio - most recently through the announced sale of its Life Sciences business.
Commenting on the Life Sciences transaction, which was announced last week and sees Element sell its Life Sciences activities in North America to Eurofins Scientific, Wetz added: “We are proud of the strong Life Sciences platform our team has scaled from two laboratories in 2018 to 27 locations today. The transaction will give the Life Sciences laboratories the dedicated focus and investment needed to continue growing, while enabling Element to sharpen its focus on the markets where we have the greatest scale, differentiation and opportunity.”
The sale of Element Life Sciences to Eurofins Scientific is subject to customary closing conditions, including regulatory approvals, and is expected to complete in Q4 2026.
