James MacAlonan

James MacAlonan is a Principal EMC Engineer with over 20 years in the industry, providing EMC testing, training, and advisory support across the MIL-AERO market.
Experience
James started out as an apprentice in the MIL sector of EMC, working on products and platforms including the Eurofighter and F-35, from small black box systems up to full systems and platforms. His work covers military and aerospace EMC standards including MIL-STD-461, RTCA DO-160, and DEF STAN 59-411. He has also spent time with one of the main test and measurement equipment manufacturers in the EMC industry, supporting EMC projects worldwide and advising customers on test methods, chamber design, and equipment. Today, as Principal EMC Engineer at Element, he develops and supports the EMC test group's day-to-day operations across aerospace and defence.
Career Highlights
Testing almost every component that goes on a Eurofighter, and the Eurofighter itself, has been a highlight of James's career. . He has also supported customers in building complete EMC test systems and RF chambers, including fully anechoic rooms, semi-anechoic chambers, and shielded rooms.
