White Paper: Understanding Anaerobic Digestion
Element can provide you with anaerobic digestion testing, to help you keep in accordance with environmental compliance standards.
Anaerobic digestion is a naturally occurring process that involves the breakdown of biodegradable materials to produce methane. Discovered in 1776 as the source of marsh gas methane, this process has become indispensable in modern industrial processes. The bacteria involved in this process, and byproducts of the process itself, have been integrated into waste and landfill management programs, agriculture and fertilizers, and even food production.
The natural process of anaerobic digestion involves three sets of bacterial interactions: bacterial hydrolysis, obligate hydrogen-producing bacteria, and methanogenic archaea.
