Diego González leads Element Digital Engineering's Structures capability, bringing more than 12 years' aerospace experience in structural analysis, dynamics, fatigue and lifing assessments.
Experience
Diego graduated with a degree in Aerospace Engineering, specialising in aerospace vehicles. He began his career as a Stress Engineer at Altran Spain, now Capgemini, where he spent three years supporting structural analysis projects in the aerospace industry.
He then moved to the United Kingdom to join Rolls-Royce, where he spent nine years in technical and leadership roles within the stress capability community. He developed broad experience across compressors, externals, aerostructures, turbines and combustion systems. His work covered dynamics, static strength assessment, fatigue and crack propagation, alongside design, manufacturing, aerodynamics and aeroelasticity.
Diego joined Element Digital Engineering in 2026. He develops the technical capability of the Structures team, provides technical leadership for projects and works directly with customers. He also collaborates with Element laboratories across the United Kingdom, Europe and North America.
Career Highlights
- Developed a new approach for assessing mechanical damping in compressor blades, improving understanding of blade dynamics and vibration response.
- Developed a statistical method to assess the impact of defects in combustion tiles across an engine fleet.
- Managed a multidisciplinary team of 30 people across design, stress and manufacturing, supported by more than 100 outsourced personnel.
- Built technical expertise across compressors, combustors, turbines and external structures, supporting product development and in-service fleet management.
