Erik Borgstrom

Erik has more than 38 years of experience performing EMI and EMC testing, with deep expertise supporting aerospace and defense qualification programs.
Experience
Erik Borgstrom has worked in the electromagnetic interference (EMI) and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) testing field for more than 38 years. He began his EMI testing career in 1987 and has served in laboratory management roles since 2000.
Erik joined Environ Laboratories in 2003 and continued as EMI Department Manager when Element Materials Technology acquired Environ in 2015. Today, he serves as Senior Technical Manager at Element’s Minneapolis laboratory, a recognized Center of Excellence for aerospace and defense EMI testing within Element’s Product Qualification Testing (PQT) network.
In addition to leading local laboratory operations, Erik has broader responsibility for EMI testing across U.S. PQT laboratories through his participation in Element’s Technical Services Group. He represents Element on RTCA Special Committee 135 and has been an active member for over 28 years, currently serving as Change Coordinator for DO‑160 Section 23 (Lightning Direct Effects) and Section 25 (Electrostatic Discharge).
