John Tartaglia

Dr. John Tartaglia is a senior expert that specializes in the testing of wrought steels, aluminum and magnesium.
Experience
Dr. Tartaglia is an expert in wrought steels, aluminum, magnesium, fatigue, failure analysis, scanning and transmission electron microscopy, and energy dispersive spectroscopy, and is an experienced expert witness in failure analysis litigation. He holds B.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Materials Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and is a Fellow of ASM International and a member of TMS.
Career Highlights
In 2013, Dr. Tartaglia was awarded the American Foundry Society's Howard F. Taylor Award for his paper examining a strain-life fatigue database for cast irons, developed using funding from the AFS and the US Department of Energy. He serves as an Editor for ASM's Journal of Materials Engineering and Performance and an Associate Editor of ASM/TMS' Metallurgical and Materials Transactions A; he holds two US patents for aluminum composite materials. He has been the author or co-author of over 40 academic journal entries and conference papers on cast iron, steel, and fatigue metallurgy, and is an industrial educator across topics including Metallurgical Testing, H13 Die Steel, electron microscopy, Fracture Toughness, and Failure Analysis.
