Experience

James is Client Services Director based at our Deeside, UK laboratory.

He is a qualified chemist and geologist and combines the twelve years in the environmental laboratory sector that started his career with a subsequent near twenty years in land quality, hazardous materials and waste management consultancy.

This mix of experience means that James has a distinctive perspective when managing environmental consultancy relationships today that allows him to provide detailed, tailored advice to clients regarding their analytical requirements. Additionally, James works closely with colleagues to continuously hone Element Deeside’s service offering such that it consistently meets and exceeds client expectations.

In his previous role James was principal point of contact for major retail petroleum clients, coordinating multiple environmental disciplines including land quality, civil engineering, geotechnics, ecology, acoustics, landscape architecture, and air quality.

Career Highlights

• Led a project team responsible for management of environmental liabilities and overcoming environmental development constraints associated with a portfolio of over 1,200 petrol filling stations for a leading filling station operator.
• Led hazardous materials surveys and remediation across multiple commercial and military sites, including a 21ha disused vehicle storage facility, safely removing approximately 300,000 litres of hazardous liquids and dewatering a 460,000 litre water storage lagoon.
• Served as Project Director for environmental aspects of the construction of two new fuelling facilities for armoured vehicles at military garrisons in southern England.
• Part of a team which successfully managed the relocation of a major analytical laboratory with subsequent promotion to Operations Manager, taking on responsibility for circa 100 staff and full operational and financial control.
