Element Derby Digital Engineering, located at Darley Abbey Mills, is a specialist centre within one of the UK’s leading hubs for advanced engineering and manufacturing. Formerly known as Norton Straw, the site brings together engineers, mathematicians, and software specialists to solve complex engineering challenges.

We support customers across aerospace, defence, and energy with advanced modelling and simulation, digital engineering, and product development services. Our team helps organisations improve performance, reduce risk, and accelerate innovation across the engineering lifecycle. 

Key capabilities include computational modelling and simulation, digital twin development, prototype design and development for fluid systems and engineered products, and bespoke test rig design to replicate real-world operating conditions.

Based in the heart of the UK’s aerospace and power generation corridor, our Derby team works closely with OEMs and supply chain partners on new product development and in-service optimisation programmes. We also collaborate with our digital engineering sites in Bristol Quayside, Filton, and Cirencester, giving customers access to wider specialist expertise and programme support across the UK.
