LONDON, UK – November 23, 2016 – Element Materials Technology has launched its Coatings Center of Technical Excellence at its Amsterdam, NL facility to deliver enhanced services for the Oil & Gas and power generation sectors. The significant investment expands capacity in its existing Coatings testing services for pipelines and field joints, while adding a wide range of tests for Coatings for offshore and onshore assets.

Element Amsterdam’s extended capabilities allow clients to test to a full range of global Coatings standards, from ISO 20340 to NACE TM104-404, as well as in-demand standards and methodologies required by Oil & Gas Majors and their supply chain partners. The location delivers testing services from pre-qualification of Coatings in R&D phases, through to process/production qualification testing for Coatings applications on active projects.

Element’s latest investment in expanding and enhancing Coatings activities in the Oil & Gas sector follows the appointment of Element’s Global Coatings Specialist, Marie Halliday, in 2015.

Rod Martin, Element’s Executive Vice President, Oil & Gas, comments: “Element’s long-term strategy in the Oil & Gas sector has been built on technical leadership to identify and deliver new and critical services for key clients. Element Amsterdam becomes our first Coatings Center of Technical Excellence and works with Element Hitchin’s subsea insulation coatings capabilities. Supporting the industry with key services, while leveraging our global platform, Element is able to offer full services for pipeline and marine corrosion clients, combining Coatings testing services with our leading materials testing capabilities in Fracture Mechanics and Corrosion.

“Element’s commitment to the Oil & Gas sector has seen us add new services and capabilities across our footprint, allowing us to act a trusted testing partner. Most importantly, Element Amsterdam’s reputation for high-quality and efficient services, with competitive On Time Delivery (OTD) performance, will now be available to our Coatings partners.”

Element Amsterdam’s capacity for pipelines Coatings testing will include new test capabilities for high-temperature cathodic disbondment (CD) tests (for temperatures greater than 100 degrees C). The investment also adds a suite of tests for the protective coatings and marine markets, with significant new capacity in accelerated weathering testing, immersion and thermal-cyclic testing.
